Heating services
Plant cannot outrun a cold roof. If the loft is thin and the cavities are empty, a new boiler just heats the sky. Wales Heat quotes insulation with the heating job when it will cut the bill, and as a stand-alone fabric upgrade when the boiler can wait.
Loft insulation is mineral wool at ceiling level — between joists first, then a second layer at right angles, targeting around 270mm in a typical cold roof. Hatches, tanks, and downlights get detailing so you do not trap moisture or bury cables.
Cavity wall
Blown mineral wool or beads into suitable cavities. Failed or bridged fills can be extracted before a proper refill.
Solid wall
Internal or external insulation where there is no cavity. Survey first — this is a different job to a standard cavity fill.
With a boiler
If both are due, we can match crews so fabric and plant land in the same season, not two winters apart.
Will my walls take a cavity fill?
Not every Welsh wall is a clean cavity. Exposed coastal elevations, rubble-filled stone, and already-filled walls need a look with a boroscope, not a leaflet. We would rather decline a bad cavity than push beads into a damp wall.
The cross-section of a typical cavity — brick, insulation, block — is what we are aiming to get right. Bridged insulation that touches both leaves is how damp travels. Modern fills sit against the inner leaf with a residual gap where the construction allows it.
